CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Police in Charlotte are investigating a wreck that injured three people, including one of their own.

Investigators say the officer was transporting a person to a mental facility early Wednesday morning when he crashed into a broken down car along the Brookshire Freeway.

Three people were hurt and taken to the hospital but officials say they are expected to be fine.

This is the second police involved wreck within the last two weeks. Police investigating this crash say they aren't sure what happened but suspect it had something to do with broken street lights along the Brookshire.

Officers say it is so dark along that stretch that it would be hard to see anything there,
especially a broken down car.
